Guest speakers at yesterday’s Macau Forum said they were “shocked and disappointed” at the recent remarks made by Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario, who said last week that none of the members of the government-appointed Urban Renewal Council had ever suggested that there’s a need for the government to draft legislation to push for the city’s urban renewal.
The weekly open-air debate is hosted by government-owned broadcaster TDM in Areia Preta Park every Sunday.
Rosario noted during a plenary session of the legislature last Thursday that the Urban Renewal Council has held 18 meetings since its establishment two years ago, adding that none of its members had proposed during any of the meetings that the government should draft a bill regulating the city’s urban renewal process.
