A male mainlander has been arrested for attacking a roommate with a cleaver in a residential building in Taipa on Thursday night, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a special press conference at the PJ headquarters in Zape on Friday.
According to Lei, the suspect is a 22-year-old non-resident worker surnamed Qi while the victim is Qi’s roommate, who is also a non-resident worker and in his twenties. Lei said that both live in a flat on one of the upper floors in Hoi Van Garden Building in Taipa.
Lei said that at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the two were drinking in the flat with a few friends. In the small hours of Thursday morning, some had already left while only Qi, the victim, and another friend remained.
