Guest speakers and members of the audience at yesterday’s Macau Forum expressed concern that the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau (HKZM) Bridge – colloquially known as the delta bridge – would further increase the already heavy burden on traffic around the entrance – at the north-eastern coast of the peninsula – of a link to the man-made island where Macau’s border checkpoint of the bridge is located.
The weekly open-air debate is hosted by government-owned broadcaster TDM in Areia Preta Park every Sunday.
The mega-bridge is widely expected to open to traffic later this year. Its opening date is yet to be announced by the central government.
