An 81-year-old local man who was chronically ill jumped to his death from his home after hitting his wife over the head with a hammer in the early hours of Friday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) have announced.
The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries after the attack in the couple’s flat near Avenida de Horta e Costa, according to a PJ statement on Friday, which classified the case as assault and suicide.
During a regular press conference on Friday afternoon, PJ spokesmen Leng Kam Lon said PJ officers believed that the man’s attack on his 79-year-old wife was not caused by a family row. “No evidence shows that the case involves a family dispute,” he said.
