Over 60 residents living in Block 4 of Cidade Nova in Toi San were evacuated during a fire there last night, Kwok Pan, an official of the Fire Services Bureau (CB), said in a special press conference at the scene, adding that the cause of fire was not immediately known.
According to Kwok, the bureau received a report at 8 p.m. about a fire in a flat on the 19th floor of the residential estate. He said that the fire broke out on the balcony of the flat, and the fire spread to nearby flats. During the fire, things fell from the balcony onto the mezzanine floor of the high-rise.
Kwok said that a total of 13 emergency vehicles and 54 firefighters were deployed to the scene. He noted that the firefighters needed to walk up to the 19th floor.
