The Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement yesterday that they were recently informed through the School Safety Network that a parent had seen a man trying to make indecent contact with schoolgirls in the city centre.
According to the statement, the man was frequently spotted wandering around Rua do Campo trying to touch schoolgirls’ bodies or engaging in obscene acts.
The statement said that so far the police had not directly received any complaints about the issue, but urged possible eye-witnesses to come forward. Meanwhile, the police also asked teachers, parents and pupils to stay alert all the time, and be aware when someone is acting suspiciously or wandering around schools.
