About a dozen greyhounds with their handlers had a meet-and-greet with local people yesterday during an adoption day held at Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome.

The dog racetrack at Fai Chi Kei will shut down as its land lease with the government expires on July 21, and there have been concerns about the fate of the roughly 650 greyhounds when it closes.

About 15 greyhounds that have passed a training programme approved by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) and are supposed to be ready to be rehomed were out to greet people interested in adopting them.
