Indonesia’s new ambassador to China and Mongolia, Djauhari Oratmangun, is seeking to increase exports from Indonesia to China, while also pushing for more Chinese investment in his country, and he’s also promoting Chinese tourism in Indonesia.
Speaking to local Indonesian-language radio show Kumbang Toh! News at the local office of the Hong Kong-based Indonesian Consulate-General last week, Oratmangun, who has been posted to Beijing for two months, said, “There are three pillars of cooperation between [the two] countries, number one is political security, number two is economic cooperation, number three is socio-cultural – people to people [relations].”
He stressed, “Concerning economic cooperation, of course I would like to increase trade between the two countries, particularly exports from Indonesia to China,” as well as more investments from across China, including Macau and Hong Kong, in Indonesia.
