Guest speakers and members of the audience at yesterday’s Macau Forum urged the government to set up a system regulating the use and maintenance of the city’s electrical and mechanical devices, including gas cooking appliances.
The topic of yesterday’s forum was about how to improve gas safety in eateries and homes, in the wake of a deadly gas explosion in a restaurant in Areia Preta district last week.
The explosion, caused by a gas leak from the restaurant’s LPG cylinders, killed a woman and injured six other people. Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On paid an inspection visit to the restaurant shortly after the blast.
