The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) said last night that it’s unlikely that it will hoist the No. 8 signal today for tropical storm “Son-Tinh” that was approaching the southern island province of Hainan.

The weather station hoisted the No. 1 signal at 4 a.m. yesterday before later hoisting the No. 3 signal at 6 p.m.

According to the bureau’s website, tropical storm “Son-Tinh” was located at about 420 kilometres south-west of Macau at 2 a.m. today and was moving west towards Hainan at a speed of around 35 kilometres per hour.
