A male mainlander, who had entered Macau illegally, was arrested at a casino on the peninsula last Thursday for assaulting his wife with a knife earlier this month, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said during a regular press conference on Friday.
According to the spokesperson, the suspect is a 43-year-old businessman surnamed Song. The victim is his 40-year-old wife who is a local resident and works at a casino.
The spokesperson noted that Song has a criminal record for various offences in Macau such as aggravated theft, attempted murder and possessing an illegal weapon. In 2004, Song was handed an 11-year prison term. He was released from jail in February in 2015, when he was deported from and banned from entering Macau for 10 years.
