The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) said last night it was unlikely that it will hoist the No. 3 signal today for a tropical depression that was approaching the far western coast of Guangdong province.

The weather station hoisted the No. 1 signal at 3:45 p.m. yesterday.

According to the bureau’s website, the tropical depression was located at about 360 kilometres west-southwest of Macau at 2 a.m. today and was moving towards the western coast of Guangdong province at a speed of around five kilometres per hour.

The website also said that occasional showers may occur in Macau today, with occasional thunderstorms with gusts.
