The public Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM) yesterday categorically denied a string of allegations apparently made by David Quartermain, a former deputy director of the tertiary education institution’s MPI-Bell Centre of English.

The institute sent a statement to The Macau Post Daily last night in response to the allegations by its former employee.

On Saturday afternoon, The Macau Post Daily received an e-mail apparently written by Quartermain and titled “Malpractice, negligence, and sexual misconduct at Macao Polytechnic Institute”. The 2,572-word e-mail made a large number of allegations against various IPM entities, employees and students such as the institute’s alleged cover-up of students cheating, misuse of public funds, moving staff members between departments due to personal reasons, and having teaching staff members who have little work to do.
