The Legislative Assembly (AL) yesterday passed the outline of a government-drafted bill to amend the Chief Executive Election Law, which proposes that two members of the Chief Executive Election Committee will come from the city’s future municipal organisation.

The government is proposing the chief executive election law amendment bill, after the legislature late last month passed a government-initiated bill on the establishment of a non-political municipal organisation. The law on the new municipal entity was promulgated in the Official Gazette (BO) early this month.

The municipal organisation will be established on January 1 next year when the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) will be abolished.
