The local government should improve coordination with the other Greater Bay Area (GBA) cities in terms of credential recognition to provide favourable conditions for local residents to work on the mainland, University of Macau (UM) Assistant Professor Chan Kin Sun said yesterday.

Chan, who also heads the Macau Social Security Society, made the remarks on the sidelines of a GBA seminar held by think tank Macau Wisdom Convergence Network on the latter’s premises in Ribeira do Patane district.

Last month, the State Council General Office announced a new regulation that allows Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan residents holding mainland-issued travel documents to apply for mainland residence permits. The regulation took effect on Saturday.
