Famous Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company from Italy will be presenting their ballet par excellence in the city for the first time with the classic romantic “Giselle”, a story of love, betrayal, heartache and forgiveness.
The company’s Director Fédéric Olivieri, Production Manager Andrea Valioni and General Direction Andrea Vitalini attended a meet-the-press at Macau Cultural Centre yesterday, ahead of the four performances of Giselle from tomorrow to Sunday, as well as two workshops with local ballet dancers.
“Giselle” tells the story of a young peasant girl called Giselle who falls in love with Albrecht, only to discover later that he already has a fiancée, and Giselle dies from a broken heart. A group of supernatural women called The Wilis, who dance men to death, summon Giselle from her grave and hunt down Albrecht. Giselle forgives him and helps him escape from the Wilis.
