A local man was arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ) at the Barrier Gate checkpoint on Sunday, for forging his sister’s signature in 2016, PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a regular press conference yesterday.

According to Ho, the suspect is a 30-year-old surnamed Lei, who works as a taxi driver. The suspect and his sister – the victim, jointly own a property in Fai Chi Kei.

Ho said that in 2016 February, Lei took out a remortgage of about HK$220,000 with the help of a male and two female suspects, currently on the run, with one of the female suspects forging his sister’s signature on the remortgaging documents. This April, Lei’s sister received a letter from the court about an overdue payment, and discovered that a remortgage had been taken out on the Fai Chi Kei property using her name.
