Transport Bureau (DSAT) Director Kelvin Lam Hin San said yesterday that the government was studying the feasibility of launching a bus-only lane on Avenida do Coronel Mesquita, which would be the city’s second lane restricted to public buses.
Lam added that the setting-up of the bus lane would need the removal of 10 car parking spaces on the avenue in the northern part of the peninsula.
The transport chief also said that the proposal, which aims to improve traffic in and around the avenue, was merely a “preliminary” study, adding that the government did not have a timetable as to when it would be implemented. He promised that the government will listen to citizens’ opinions about the proposed lane.
