The Public Security Police (PSP) have nabbed a taxi driver for misappropriating a passenger’s belongings worth 71,000 patacas and another cabbie for helping him keep the loot, PSP spokeswoman Chong Sin I said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Chong identified the two local male suspects as Lo, who is about 50 years old, and Yip, who is in his 50s, both taxi drivers. She said that the victim is a female tourist from the mainland in her 30s.
According to Chong, the woman got into a taxi with two family members in Avenida 24 de Junho and asked to be taken to a Cotai hotel on Tuesday. After getting out of the taxi, she realised that she had left her handbag in the cab, and hence asked for help from hotel security staff – who assisted her in reporting the case to the police.
