The Public Security Police (PSP) have arrested a male mainlander in the city centre after he stole a mobile phone from a female tourist on Tuesday, PSP spokeswoman Chong Sin I said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Chong identified the suspect as a man in his forties surnamed Guo from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, who claimed to be unemployed. She said that the victim is a female from Guangdong province.
On Tuesday afternoon police officers patrolling in Largo do Senado saw Guo acting suspiciously inside a souvenir shop there, Chong said. Police officers started watching him and saw that he was following the victim around the shop. As the victim neared the entrance of the shop, Guo used his bag as a cover and stole a smartphone from the victim’s handbag. He immediately left the shop.
