Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) Vice President Leong Wai Man said yesterday that the construction of a new project on the plot where the heritage-protected former Lok Kok teahouse building is located would not affect the old building’s original façade.

The badly dilapidated building is located in Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro.

Leong made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Lou Kau Mansion – near the Cathedral – after attending yesterday’s launch ceremony of a guided tour service provided by local children and young people who have participated in her bureau’s annual training programme for young tour guides. Following training, the programme’s participants are be become volunteer guides for the city’s cultural heritage sites.
