The Public Security Police (PSP) picked up a male mainlander on Wednesday afternoon at the local airport carrying a dagger, PSP spokesman Fong Cheong Chun said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Fong identified the suspect as a 26-year-old from Sichuan province surnamed Chen, who works as a computer programmer.

According to Fong, Chen was set to depart from the local airport for Wuhan that afternoon. When he was going through the airport’s security check, security guards discovered a dagger in his backpack. The airport security called the Public Security Police.

This undated handout photo provided by the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday shows the dagger seized from the mainland suspect at the local airport on Wednesday.
