Three men from India were caught last Friday for deceiving shop owners in the city centre in a fortune-telling scam, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said in a regular press briefing yesterday.

The trio told the merchants that they could predict the future of their businesses and that their “prayers” would bring good luck and prosperity to their shops. Shopkeepers paid them between one and 20 patacas per “prayer”.

Two of the men surnamed Singh are brothers aged 24 and 25 from India. They entered Macau last Tuesday. They were staying in a hostel in Rua de Felicidade and cruised around Rua de Francisco Xavier Pereira looking for potential victims to scam, according to the PSP spokesman.
