A fire at the well-known Lam Kei barbecue restaurant in Areia Preta damaged the kitchen in the early hours of yesterday, according to a statement by the Fire Service Bureau (CB).
According to the statement, the restaurant’s electric oven is believed to have overheated, which might have caused the fire. The blaze was put out by the restaurant’s sprinkler system, which stopped the fire spreading.
The statement said the bureau received a report from a passer-by about the fire at 8:12 a.m. yesterday that smoke was coming out of the restaurant’s exhaust ducts, after which firefighters arrived at the scene. The restaurant’s sprinkler system had extinguished most of the flames before the firefighters arrived there.
