2 sisters commit salary fraud: police

Two sisters who own an engineering company were scamming staff out of their salaries and asked them to sign illegal employment contracts in violation of the Labour Relations Law, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai yesterday at a regular press conference.

Choi said that the two sisters who are both surnamed Wu, a 61-year-old local, and a 57-year-old Hong Kong resident, own a local engineering company in Zape. The older sister’s husband is the main shareholder of the company,w hile the younger sister holds the second biggest share.

In April 20, the Judiciary Police received a report from two of the company’s female employees, who are both from the mainland, that they had been cheated out of a total of 220,000 patacas in unpaid salaries. Both had worked for the company since 2016 and left in April this year. They also said that they were asked to sign two contracts, one stating that their salary was 12,300 patacas and the other that their salary was 8,500 patacas.
