The former dean of the Law Faculty of the University of Macau (UM), John Mo Shijian, who is alleged to have sexually assaulted a female student from the mainland enrolled in another local university, denied the sexual assault allegation during the first hearing of his trial at the Court of First Instance (TJB) on Friday, his defence lawyer Oriana Inácio Pun told reporters on the sidelines of the hearing, which was closed to the public including the media.
According to local Chinese-language media reports, in addition to Mo, the case has another two defendants as alleged accomplices. The reports identified the two defendants as Lei Iok Pui and Ieong Man Man.
According to the reports, the court on Friday accepted the defence’s request for the trio’s trial to be conducted in camera.
