A male non-resident worker from Nigeria has been arrested for cheating 11 Indians out of a total of 420,000 patacas by claiming that he could help them get a job in a local company where he was working, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a special press conference yesterday.

Lei identified the suspect as a 43-year-old surnamed Shimeobi working as a security guard for a security company.

An Indian man, who is not among the 11 victims, reported the case to the Judiciary Police last month. The Indian man told the police that he was introduced to Shimeobi by two Indonesian women about six months ago, according to Lei. The Indian man was told at that time that Shimeobi could help non-locals find work in Macau, Lei said.
