The Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) is opening an audition for a local choreographer and four dancers for a new performance under the guidance of internationally acclaimed Chinese choreographer Sang Jijia.

The audition is part of the “Art in Residence and Cultural Exchange Project” of CCM in collaboration with Hong Kong’s City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) which will be the nurturing ground for a brand new performance to be staged in September 2021.

The audition will take place on October 9-11, and the selected choreographer will travel to Hong Kong in December to experience CCDC’s rehearsal and creative routines under Sang’s directions.

There will be an artiste-in-residence in Macau for dancers from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau to prepare for as cast members of the new piece.

This project is an opportunity for Macau artistes to be inspired and learn from top-notch professionals, making the most of a dynamic, creative mind-set.

Founded more than 40 years ago, the CCDC has staged over 200 original works, putting together collaborations with outstanding artists of multiple disciplines from around the world.

The company has conquered regional and international audiences with exquisite modern dance shows staged yearly in over 60 performances.

Sang is an iconic contemporary dancer and creator trained in Germany and brought to the international arena after winning numerous awards in the 1990’s.

The Chinese choreographer worked at the Ballet Frankfurt under William Forsythe, created pieces for companies in Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, and has received commissions from well-known dance companies across the world like the Gothenburg Opera Dance Company, among others.

Submission for application is open until September 25. Application forms and further information can be downloaded at www.ccm.gov.mo. – ccmpr
