Manager of public libraries loses job after rebuke

The head of the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s (IC) Public Libraries Management Department, Tang Mei Lin, will be removed from her post in the wake of disciplinary procedures and a written rebuke resulting from an official audit that revealed serious mismanagement issues at the libraries.

The conclusion of the disciplinary procedures and their consequences were revealed by IC President Mok Ian Ian to the media on the sidelines of a regular closed-door meeting of the government-appointed Cultural Heritage Council at the Macau Cultural Centre in Nape. 

Mok said that in spite of the relatively light penalty, Tang will be replaced by Lo Chi Keong, the current chief of the Readers’ Services Division of the Public Libraries Management Department.
