The police caught four Hong Kong citizens on Monday for illegally working in Macau by selling car cleaning products to car drivers in the street, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Choi Iok Kin said during a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Choi, the police have recently received complaints from a number of drivers that some people used aggressive sales techniques (known as “hard sell”) for car cleaning products by street parking spaces. The complainants described the “hard sell” as harassment.
When the drivers returned to where their cars were parked and were about to get into their cars, the “hard sell” street hawkers approached their vehicles by first spraying car shampoo onto the vehicle and then wiping it off, in order to demonstrate the products’ cleaning effect, according to Choi.
