A female student of the University of Macau (UM), who was found unconscious in her bed at Stanley Ho East Asia College on Friday, was declared dead later that day, according to an online report on Sunday by Orange Post, a student-run news outlet at the public university.
The student, surnamed Lei, was a first-year student of the university’s Faculty of Education, according to an email sent by the faculty to its students yesterday.
After being found unconscious by her roommate, Lei was taken to the private Kiang Wu Hospital, the Orange Post said, adding that she was pronounced dead around an hour after her arrival at the hospital. The actual cause of death has yet to be confirmed, according to the Orange Post, which also quoted a student of the college as saying that Lei said on Friday morning that she had a stomach ache.
