The local government yesterday expressed its strong opposition to the latest US human rights report on the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR), according to a statement by the Government Spokesperson’s Office.
The report published by the US Department of State made irresponsible remarks on the internal affairs of the MSAR that are China’s internal affairs, the statement said.
In the past 20 years since the establishment of the MSAR, the principles of “One Country, Two Systems” and “Macau people administering Macau” with a high degree of autonomy have been successfully implemented, the statement said, adding that Macau people enjoy the rights and freedoms which are fully guaranteed by the nation’s constitution and the Basic Law.
