A local 85-year-old woman died after being hit by a scooter in Avenida de Sidónio Pais yesterday, the Public Security Police (PSP) said.
According to the police, the accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. near Flora Garden. The scooter hit the woman when she was crossing the one-way avenue that runs from the Hoi Fu Garden estate to Praça do Tap Seac. The victim was not using a traffic light controlled crossing.
The woman, who was profusely bleeding from serious head injuries, was rushed to the public São Conde de Sao Januário Hospital Centre for emergency treatment, the police said.
