Two layers of high quality matcha cakes and a layer of savoury bites are the afternoon tea that every matcha fan needs and it is now available at Nagomi café at Okura hotel.
The tea set features six desserts by award-winning chef Koichi Izumi, one of the most influential chefs in Japan. Izumi is the owner of famous pastry shop Asterisque in the upscale Shibuya neighbourhood in Tokyo, and is also the culinary school Callebaut Ambassador.
In 2008 and 2006, Izumi won the World’s Pastry Championship and in 2005 he made history by scoring third place and became the first Japanese winner at the prestigious World Chocolate Masters.
