The awareness of caring for vulnerable groups has been increasing in Macau but there is still room for improvement in eliminating discrimination and increasing social acceptance, such as pupils with special needs facing bullying at schools, Macau Special Olympics (MSO) Chief Executive Officer and National Director Hetzer Siu Yu Hong said yesterday.

Siu made the comments during a media briefing on the MSO premises in Toi San district about the situation of vulnerable groups in Macau, and how MSO helps them integrate into society.

Siu said bullying is a serious problem in local schools, in particular for vulnerable groups such as children with special needs or with intellectual disabilities who often become victims of discrimination and bullying on campuses.
