The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested two male mainlanders on Sunday for burgling a flat near the Barrier Gate border checkpoint on Saturday, PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a special press conference yesterday.
Leng identified the two suspects as a 23-year-old surnamed Guo and a 34-year-old surnamed He.
The burglary took place in a flat in Rua da Hortense – a street next to the casino shuttle bus area west of the Barrier Gate Plaza. The owner of the flat – a local man in his fifties – left his flat at around 6 p.m. on Saturday. When the victim returned to his flat two hours later, he found that the flat’s wooden door had been locked from the inside after opening the flat’s metal gate. Consequently, the victim could not enter the flat. The victim then asked for assistance from a doorman of the building, after which the victim could go into his flat, according to Leng, who did not reveal how the doormen managed to open the door.
