Suspended directly-elected lawmaker Sulu Sou Ka Hou said in a statement on Friday that indirectly-elected lawmakers Kou Hoi In and Vong Hin Fai ought to consider insisting on their jointly proposed draft resolution – a document that they submitted to the Legislative Assembly (AL) last week – on whether the suspension of a lawmaker by his or her peers is a “political act”.

The legislature has arranged a plenary session tomorrow afternoon to debate and vote on the draft resolution. Sou and a fellow activist will stand trial for alleged aggravated disobedience tomorrow.

The two indirectly-elected legislators have jointly proposed the draft resolution in response to Sou having filed an appeal to the Court of Second Instance (TSI) over certain legal matters concerning the process and procedure of his suspension as a lawmaker last month.
