The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that it is carrying out a range of proactive measures to divert visitor flows from major attractions during the mainland’s May Day Golden Week holiday, such as encouraging visitors to use its smart online platform for visitor flow forecasts and deploying staff at various locations in the city to handle enquiries and assist in visitor flow diversion.

MGTO will send a text message to all arriving visitors to urge them to use its smart online platform for visitor flow forecasts, the statement said, pointing out that the “smart application for visitor flows” launched last month predicts the density of visitor flows at 20 major tourist attractions at various levels from “comfortable”, “moderate”, “lightly congested”, “congested” to “heavily congested”.

The users of the platform can learn more about the level of visitor flows at major attractions such as the Ruins of St. Paul’s before making suitable itinerary arrangements, the statement pointed out, aiming to guide visitors to visit attractions in other districts during the peak hours.
