Over a hundred disgruntled pre-sale buyers of Pearl Horizon flats staged a protest march yesterday from the abandoned Polytex construction site in Areia Preta district to Government Headquarters in Nam Van district, urging the current government to settle the long-running problem of the ill-fated residential project before the end of its term.

Pearl Horizon Condominium Owners United Association President Kou Meng Pok told The Macau Post Daily that about 500 buyers participated in the protest. The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement last night that the protest drew about 130 demonstrators at its peak during the march. A total of 120 PSP officers were deployed to maintain order. The protesters included senior citizens and children.

According to Kou, the protesters will take further action if the current government cannot solve the problem before December 20 when the new chief executive and his team of policy secretaries will be sworn in.
