Hundreds of people took part in a protest organised by the Macau Family Union Federation yesterday, urging both the local government and the central government to meet their long-standing demand that their grown-up mainland-born children be allowed to move to Macau.
The organisers told reporters that about 560 people took part in the protest, while the police said that the protest drew about 280 demonstrators at its peak during the march.
The family reunion protestors started the demonstration in Triangle Garden at 2 p.m. Representatives from the group submitted their petition to an official at the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Macau in Zape. The demonstrators continued their march before their representatives finally submitted their petition to an official at Government Headquarters in Nam Van.
