The president of the Industry and Commerce Association of Macau Northern District, Wong Kin Chong, told a press conference yesterday that a trial run of an outdoor cooked food market will be held in the northern district from October to December with the aim of attracting visitors and bringing business opportunities to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the area, adding that a 15-day survey starts today to collect residents’ views on the plan.
The press conference was held by the association at the Permanent Education Centre in Iao Hon. It was attended by about 30 local merchants.
Wong noted that only a few tourist spots are located in the city’s northern district, such as the Lin Zexu Memorial Museum of Macau and Lin Kai Temple. However, only a few visitors are aware of the northern district’s attractions due to a dearth of promotional activities, and most of them don’t visit the city’s residential areas anyway, Wong added.
