Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosário said yesterday that the government will continue its policy to reduce the number of parking spaces for cars and motorcycles in streets whenever there is a need for it.

Rosário made the remarks when replying to an oral interpellation by directly-elected lawmaker Wong Kit Cheng during a plenary session in the legislature’s hemicycle.

In her interpellation, Wong said that the occupancy rates of parking spaces in some of the city’s public car parks are very low. She asked the government whether it would study the feasibility of offering discounts during the night time for public car parks with low occupancy rates.
