Three taxi drivers were arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday on suspicion of keeping over HK$100,000 in cash that a passenger had left in a shoulder bag in the cab. The bag was later transferred by the first cabbie to a second taxi driver’s private car who then asked a third cabbie to look after his car key. The three suspects are male local residents aged around 30.

At midnight last Friday, a passenger from the mainland got into the taxi outside a hotel in Cotai to go to the Lotus Flower Bridge border checkpoint. The Public Security Police did not reveal the gender of the passenger.

After getting out of the taxi, the passenger realised that his or her shoulder bag containing HK$100,000 in cash was missing and immediately called the police, after taken down the cab’s registration number.

This handout photo provided by the Public Security Police Force (PSP) yesterday shows the three suspected “rogue cabbies” being escorted by PSP officers to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) in Nape.
