Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) President José Fonseca Tavares confirmed yesterday that his bureau plans to repaint all the external walls of the IAM headquarters in the city centre, to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland.

Tavares made the remarks while speaking to reporters at The Plaza Restaurant in Zape on the sidelines of a lunch for senior citizens organised by the bureau. Some 360 senior citizens invited by 35 community associations attended the lunch – Lotus Flower Banquet – which was part of this year’s Macau Lotus Flower Festival”.

Tavares’ remarks came after the Judiciary Police arrested a tourist from Portugal late last month for scrawling graffiti on a wall of the IAM headquarters.
