The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) said yesterday that the bureau recorded 112 bullying cases in local schools during the current school year until February this year.
Chow Pui Leng, a senior official of the Psycho-Pedagogical Support and Special Education Centre run by the bureau, made the remarks during a press briefing at the bureau in Nam Van after a closed-door meeting of the government-appointed Non-tertiary Education Committee.
According to Chow – who had previously headed the centre, most of the 112 bullying cases between last September and February this year were of physical ones, followed by verbal ones and the pupils’ deliberate isolation by their peers.
