The Macao Orchestra (OM) 2019-20 concert season will start on August 31 with a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, with the aim of conveying the German composer’s positive attitude towards life through music, Leong Wai Man, acting president of Cultural Affairs Bureau (ICM), said yesterday.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau held a press conference about the theme of the 2019-20 concert season –“Love Beethoven” – at Mandarin Oriental Macau yesterday afternoon.

Leong said in her speech during the press conference that the bureau “wants to make culture the soul of the city, and music is a timeless form of art that portrays the soul and drives our dreams”, pointing out that the Macao Orchestra is a professional ensemble under the auspices of her bureau. According to Leong, the orchestra has been playing a vital role in fostering the development of local music and enriching Macau’s cultural life.
