The Judiciary Police (PJ) have busted a non-gaming-related loan-sharking gang which had arranged usurious loans for residents since 2015, PJ spokesman Lai Man Vai said during a special press conference yesterday.

According to Lai, PJ officers took action and arrested five suspected gang members – all are locals – on Monday. The police believe that there are some other suspects still at large.

Four of the five suspects, four males and a female, are members of the same family, according to Lai. The gang had arranged at least 86 loans, involving over HK$24 million, Lai said.
