Buddhists give out free vegetarian lunches

Yu Hua Zhai, a Buddhist non-profit organisation from Hangzhou, has come to Macau to serve a free vegetarian lunch to anyone who wants one this week.

According to a statement provided by the organisation, Yu Hua Zhai was started in 2011 as a religious non-profit group which opens restaurants to provide free vegetarian food for the general public.

Yu Hua Zhai opened its first local restaurant, on the 11th floor of Nam Fong Industrial Building in Areia Preta district, on Monday. Yu Hua Zhai’s representative Choi Coi Kan said that over the past three days around 200 people per day have been to the restaurant for a free lunch.
