CE insists public housing is a govt’s priority
Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On said yesterday that concerning the home ownership scheme (HOS) registration process, the government could only improve the system through trial and error.
Chui made the remarks on the sidelines of the swearing-in ceremony of the new board members of the Macau Jiangmen Communal Society at Fisherman’s Wharf.
The government amended the HOS registration process last year, in the hope of speeding up the procedure, which now begins with each applicant receiving a brief background check to verify whether they qualify for public housing, followed by being entered into a lucky draw. After the lucky draw, the chosen applicants will then be thoroughly vetted to ensure that only those that qualify will get a subsidised HOS flat.
