Indirectly-elected lawmaker Andrew Chan Chak Mou said yesterday that people’s ability to cope with their income depended on their lifestyle.
Responding to reporters’ questions after a routine closed-door meeting of the Legislative Assembly’s 2nd Standing Committee, which he chairs, Chan rejected the idea that the exclusion of Macau’s domestic helpers from a future minimum wage law amounted to discrimination.
He also said that a salary of 4,000 patacas a month was sufficient to live in Macau, it just depended on one’s lifestyle.
